Cashew Nut Project 2

The short scene I just shot is based on the story developed from the cashewnuts, it is about a man  called Ayaman,he goes to a night club one night and meets a girl called Ashely who is a drug dealer.

When he enters the club and looks at her, he falls in love with her, even though he does not know who she is.

when he sits next to her she passes him some drugs. He does not know the package is drugs. When he takes it and looks at it he realises what it is, so he gives it back to her and leaves the night club because he is disappointed.

Media

My grades are going down in media, I think it's because I think a lot about other things during the lesson. 

I love this subject, I want to keep on studying media in the future. I will keep on asking Mrs FairBrother about things that I do not understand. 

I need to blog more and keep it update, I also need to watch more opening movies/extracts of movies, make notes and write essays, then show my teacher and ask her to check it for me. 

I need to improve on my writing and I will improve.

Horror Project

For our horror project we are supposed to look at four movies at least. 

We had to choose what genre we want to watch. The genre that I chose was supernatural and thriller.

These are the my four movies that I'm going to watch:

1) Bram Stocker's Dracula (1992)

2) Vampyr (2014)

3) Dead Silence (2007)

4) Halloween (1978)

I'm a type of a person who likes these kind of movies, because I'm into fantasy and I have big imagination.

After we finish watching our movies, we have to create a presentation without using powerpoint.

Logo Design Re-Make

I have decided to revamp my logo. My past logo did not have much meaning to it and did not really explain much. I needed a slogan, and better visuals.

First, I found an action board clip art, as it links in with media. I then thought it would be a good idea to add some type of film roll in there just to complete the whole "film" theme. Also, I made the slogan "Through A Camera Lens". This slogan could mean that people are not really aware of the processes that films are made, all they see is the result. The subject media is basically the process. I decided to place the slogan at the bottom as it is sort of "continuing" from the title.  My company name is "TA" and so I thought that would fit perfectly right above the slogan and next to the film roll. TA stands for the first two letters of my last name. In addition, I also thought it would be right to add a light shadow at the bottom, as it gives an effect of spotlight. A spotlight is used when the focus should be on one specific person or object or in other words, Fame. 

Cashew Nut Project

Our new project is to make a character out of cashew nut. We had to describe the cashew nut as it's a human, we had some questions for our cashew nuts and we had to answer them by lookin at our cashew nuts.

The questions are:

1) How did it get the marking it has? 

2) Is it damaged or in a good shape? 

3) Why is it the size it is? 

4) How old is it? 

5) Is it poor or rich? 

6) Where is it from? 

7) Is it male or female? 

8) What kind of house does it live in? 

9) What kind of Job does it have? 

10) What does it do for fun? 

11) What kind of personality does it have? 

12) Name

13) Family

14) Habbit

15) Greatest wish or need

16) Greatest fear

I had to keep on looking at my cashew nut to be able to answer the questions.

These are my answers.

After we had finished making our notes we shared our characters, then we had to choose a partner to work with for the characters we have created. 

I'm working with Ashely, she's a drug dealer and she ran away from her house. I chose her, because I thought that Ayaman and Ashely will be a perfect match, because Ayaman is strong and he can help Ashely to better a better person by falling in love with her.  

Me and my partner had to go and make up an opening story. 

These are our notes that we (me and my partner) made.

It was difficult to create a character from a cashew nut, but if you look at it as a human not as a cashew nut, you can easily describe it as a person. 

Logo Design

I had to design a logo for my company. 

This is my logo design. I made it as a circle because I always have this quote in my mind which is " What goes around comes back around ". In my circle I have lots of blues, that's because blue is my favorite color, my happiness color and my  success color.

 The reason why melon is on my logo, is because I'm a person who loves watermelon and as soon as I eat watermelon without doing anything, I don't think about anything except how good is this watermelon. However, when I'm doing something and I need to think I eat watermelon, because I feel like it helps me to think more. 

I have TA on top, because I wanted to include some parts of my name in my logo and it's my company, that's why it's on the top. TA is the first two letters from my last name. 

Napoleon Dynamite Project

For the past couple of weeks we have been working kn filming and re-creating our version of the opening. We had to analysis the actual video, we had to watch it four times. The first time we are not allowed to make any notes, after the first watch, we are allowed to make notes and we will have a bit of time after each time we watch the video to me notes. After we watched for four times we had to make a storyboard related to each shot.

As a group we decided to do an opening that represented a girl in the Middle East, specially from Qatar, because we live in Qatar and we know about this country more than the other Middle Easten countries. The video was called International Students in the Middle East.

After we had finished making our storyboard, we had to choose ten shots and five compulsory opening credits. I never knew that there was compulsory credits and that it had to be in order, that was a new thing to learn and it was helpful. 

The first point of view shot was an iPhone. We had to slide the lock screen to unlock it and then there was a picture that was about the production company. 

Our production company was called ARALA, because ARALA is an acronym of the first letters of each of the members in the group. We chose an iPhone, because most Qataris have iPhones. The iPhone screen we used for our shot was cracked, because Qataris do not care if anything happens go their phone, because they can always buy a new one. 

I was really proud of the team. We managed to bring all the props that we needed in time, and we managed to sort things out as a group. Also, I was proud of the lighting, because it gave the props a really nice effect. 

This is an example of how the light gave a different effect to our background.

We struggled with the focus of the camera, because we had small props and it kept focusing on the background. We had to make some of the props bigger to make the focus clearer. 

For example, this makeup brush was small for the camera to focus on and it refused to focus on the brush,we had to change it to another bigger prop. Some of the props we could not change through, because we could not find any better prop for the shot. For example we had a shot that was about dates and the dates were small, we could not find anything else to replace the dates. 

What surprised me is how long we took to film one shot. Also, the camera video we had to hse a make-shift rig and it shocked me how serious it was. No one was allowed to remove it so we did not lose our angle.  

We tested the camera and the focus before we started filming anything. 

In future, it will be important to remember to focus the camera, carefully as that was one of the main troubles we faced. 

We also have to finish/start filming before time so we could have more time with editing, because editing takes time more than anyone excepts. 

Overall, for the future, I should remember to manage my time and to keep my blog updated. Also, I need to keep on taking photos of the process to allow me to document the process clearly.
